A photo-etched set in 1:35 scale from E.T. Model for building the American metal M19A1 ammunition can for 7.62 mm rounds. It is the type of can with a folding handle and a hinged lid with a gasket, which the army has used for decades and which appears both with Second World War vehicles and with modern ones. The package holds flat metal parts to be folded up; it is not a kit of a vehicle.
Ammunition cans are among the most frequently seen small equipment on models and in dioramas, and that is exactly why quality pays off on them. A plastic can has thick walls, blunt edges and only suggested hinges and catches. A photo-etched can is folded from sheet of a matching thickness, so the profile of the lid and the base is real and an open can really does look like an empty container rather than a block with a groove engraved in it.
Make the folds along the marked score lines, ideally in a bender; without one the edge of a steel rule will serve. Build the walls up in stages and let the joint harden between the individual folds, otherwise the whole thing will twist. Degrease the metal with alcohol and glue it with small drops of cyanoacrylate. Spray a base coat meant for metal before painting. Choose a matte olive or sand shade according to the scene, add scuffed edges, leave the stenciling rather suggested and bring everything together with a dark wash in the corners and light dust around the base.
This is an accessory photo-etched set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
