1:35 US Female Pilot Standing In Flight Suit (1 Fig.)

American female pilot standing, 1:35 scale, DEF Model

This item is a resin figure, not a model of a machine. It captures an American female pilot in a flight suit in a standing pose and holds one figure. The 1:35 scale is the most widespread scale for models of military vehicles and is also used for a number of helicopter models, so the figure will find a use in a diorama of a base, beside a helicopter and beside ground vehicles.

The manufacturer releases the same subject in several scales under an identical name. The scale is what tells them apart, so this is not the same product listed twice. This item is the 1:35 version and does not match a model in 1:32 or 1:48 in size.

What the figure is good for

• it adds a human figure to a scene and gives it a readable scale
• it suits dioramas of a base, a hangar and an apron
• it links an aircraft model with ground vehicles in the same scale
• the standing pose calls for no work on the model of the machine

Painting tips

Rinse the casting first in lukewarm water with a little detergent, so that traces of mold release agent come off. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface with a file; resin is more brittle than plastic and takes a cut better than being nipped. Lay on a thin primer and then build the color from the base tone up to lightening the raised areas. In 1:35 scale the face and the play of light on the folds of the suit are what matter, and two or three shades of the base color are enough for that. Finish with a matte varnish, so that the fabric looks natural.

Who the figure is for

For modelers putting together a scene in 1:35 scale, whether around a helicopter or around ground vehicles. Painting figures is a discipline of its own, but even a soundly painted figure can move a whole scene on.

The figure is cast in resin and is meant to be painted by the modeler. Paints are not included in the package.
