1:35 US G.I.s

Figures of American soldiers, 1:35 scale

A set of figures of American soldiers in 1:35 scale. The abbreviation G.I. is an established informal term for an American soldier and in the modeling trade it persists as a collective name for figures in American field kit. Within the range the set is carried under the product designation B6-35076, which sets it apart from the other sets with a similar subject. How many figures and in what poses the package holds is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Where to place the figures

The 1:35 scale is the most widespread one with models of ground equipment, so the figures can be combined with vehicles, guns and buildings of the same scale. A crew in place or a knot of soldiers by a vehicle benefits a scene twice over: it gives it scale and at the same time offers a story that the viewer understands without a caption. A single figure beside a model on a base serves well too.

Building and painting tips

• Cut surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the surface.
• Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry off.
• Try the placement of the figures out dry first, including where they are looking.
• Paint in thin coats; a heavy coat will flood the features of the face and the folds of the cloth.
• Glue suitable for the material used is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
