An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Ward LaFrance M1A1 heavy recovery (wrecker) truck in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Thunder Model, in the Standard Edition version. The set combines plastic parts with photo-etched metal, clear parts and scale rope and chain for a faithful rendering of the recovery body.
The M1/M1A1 Heavy Wrecker was an American heavy recovery truck developed at the beginning of the Second World War and used throughout the conflict. Production was started in 1941 by the Ward LaFrance company, and because of demand the manufacturer Kenworth joined in as well. The vehicle, with its rotating crane and winch, served to recover and tow damaged equipment and was one of the key elements of American logistics and maintenance.
As with any armored vehicle or truck, finish the chassis, the cab interior and the crane mechanism before you close the body, because once it is glued they will be out of reach. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate and fix the clear parts with canopy glue. Use a primer and an airbrush; enliven the Olive Drab with a dark wash into the pressings and with pigments for mud and dust effects on the chassis and tires. Weather the scale rope and chain with metallic shades and rust.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
