Six parts from which two American field pots of the Second World War are made, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The field kitchen was an institution in the American army. Hot food was carried forward whenever the situation allowed, and the ordinary day of a unit revolved around kitchen containers more than around weapons. A pot is therefore an object that suggests at once in a scene the rear, rest and the time between two moves.
What is interesting for a modeler is why precisely this shape gets bought. A pot is a body of revolution and bodies of revolution are made by hand either on a lathe or not at all. Sanding produces a slightly oval shape that looks crumpled in scale, and the larger the diameter, the more conspicuous the deviation. A casting, by contrast, holds the circle perfectly, because it inherited it from the original pattern.
Six parts make two pots, that is, three sections per piece. Most likely a body, a lid and a handle or grip, which allows one pot to be built closed and the other open. A pair in two different states is always better than an identical pair, because the difference creates action.
Do not leave the inside of the open pot in the color of metal. A blackened bottom and a scorched underside are what makes a container look used; a clean pot looks like an exhibition piece, not like something from the field.
This belongs to the entry level of the range. For one finished pot it is not worth hunting for material or setting up a jig, especially as tableware always comes into its own in a scene in several pieces.
Water containers and crates of supplies from the same range are worth buying to go with a kitchen corner, so that the post does not look like a single lonely object on an empty area.
