US Navy SEAL of the Vietnam era, N°3, 1:35 is the third Black Dog resin figure of the tropically themed numbered group.
Responsibility details are not available.
An individually boxed resin figure from Black Dog. The number three in the designation means that it follows on from the earlier figures of the same subject and is built so that it can be stood beside them without repeating a pose. The box holds a single figure.
The clothing worn by men deployed in Southeast Asia differed from European practice mainly in how fast it wore out. Damp, salt and sun bleached the fabric within a few weeks and the seams frayed, so two figures from the same group never looked quite the same. For a figure in 1:35 scale that is good news: irregularity in color is an advantage here, not a fault.
First rid the casting of the mold release agent by washing it, and only then cut. On figures the gates are usually hidden under the soles or on the back, so they can be removed without risk to the detail. Let the glued parts cure thoroughly and fill the seam at the neck or the shoulders with putty. Apply the base coat in a thin layer, or the engraved folds will disappear. Build the shades up by glazing and leave the dry brush for the equipment, where it is meant to pull out the edges.
The casting is resin and comes without paint; before building it needs cleaning and tidying up.
