1:35 US Paratrooper ’MG team’ Marching Normandy 1944 Set (3 figures)

The real subject

American paratroopers reached the fighting in Normandy by air, but after landing they fought as infantry and carried all their heavy equipment on themselves. That is exactly why a march is such a rewarding subject: a machine gun crew moves on foot, with the load shared out among them, and the figures show that these are soldiers in the field, not in a drawn-up formation.

The machine gun was the weapon of a whole squad in such a group. One soldier carried the weapon itself, another the mount and the ammunition, so the trio becomes a legible whole without any further explanation. The set therefore complements tableaux from the fighting in Normandy in 1944 well, where American airborne units moved in small groups along country roads.

What the set contains

In the package are three figures in 1:35 scale, rendered as an American airborne machine gun crew on the march. The poses are tuned to one another, so the figures hold together as a single scene and stand up both in a line and spread out along a road or a hedge.

Building and painting tips

Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, going especially carefully around the faces and the hands. Wash and degrease the figures before painting, otherwise the paint will come off the places that are touched. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; the exact procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Olive green shades with a sandy cast on the equipment suit the uniforms; put the faces and the hands in only after the base layer of the uniform, when they are easier to place.

Terms of supply

The figures are supplied to be assembled and painted. Paints, glue, vehicles and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
