An injection-molded plastic kit of the LAV-25 light wheeled armored vehicle of the US Marine Corps in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the eight-wheel chassis with a rotating two-man turret carrying an autocannon. According to the manufacturer the box contains plastic parts, decals and crew figures, so you have the basis for a lively diorama scene.
The LAV-25 is a light armored wheeled vehicle in the 8x8 configuration derived from the Swiss MOWAG Piranha design, which the US Marine Corps brought into service in the 1980s. It carries a 25 mm autocannon and additional machine guns and is used above all for reconnaissance and combat security. The real vehicle is characterized by its mobility on the road as well as off it, its ability to swim and its capacity for rapid movement. The vehicle formed the backbone of the Marine Corps reconnaissance battalions.
Work from the chassis and the axles, then finish the hull and the turret. Use thin cement for plastic, apply a primer before painting and spray the paints with an airbrush. Leave the rubber tires in a matte shade with a dust pigment around the circumference. You bring out the detail of the vehicle with dark washes in the recesses and fine dust on the lower hull; the figures will add scale and dynamism to the scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
