About product

Hauler 1:35 VW Type 82E Käfer, photo-etched detail set

A photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Hauler, intended for models of the German VW Type 82E. It is not a model but a set of fine brass parts that refine the places on view on the body and bring the model closer to the real subject. The target kits are MPM or Italeri.

The real subject

The VW Type 82E was a wartime staff car that combined the body of the civilian Beetle with the chassis and cross-country qualities of the military Kübelwagen. It served as a passenger and liaison car of the German armed forces and is a popular subject thanks to the combination of a civilian shape with a military purpose.

Usage tips

Cut the photo-etched parts from the fret, bend them along the scored lines and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a primer. With a closed body it pays to concentrate on the exterior details and the chassis.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of German passenger and staff cars in 1:35 scale
  • Makers of dioramas with military and civilian equipment
  • More advanced builders working with photo-etch

This is a photo-etched accessory, not a model in its own right. The MPM or Italeri base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
