A set of figures cast in resin in 1:35 from the PANZER ART brand, not a vehicle kit. Against a single figure a set has a different logic: the figures are designed so that they can be used side by side on one model — in the turret and driver's hatches or on the hull — and so that they do not repeat the same posture. Resin holds sharper folds and seams of clothing than injection-molded plastic, which matters on an overall with a camouflage print: the modeling of the fabric has to stay legible even under the paint applied over it.
Wash all the parts first in lukewarm water with dish soap — there tends to be a residue of mold release agent on the surface and paint would not hold on it. Separate the casting blocks with a saw leaving a margin and sand the remainder down with a file; do not breathe in resin dust, and work wet or with a respirator. Check whether a figure really sits once put into a hatch, and adjust the face it rests on if need be. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and the gel version gives time to line the arms and heads up. Apply a primer before painting.
With a set it pays to paint all the figures at the same time, so that the pattern and the tone come out the same — otherwise, side by side, the figures read as though they came from different models. The approach: a continuous base tone of the overall, then the individual blotches with well thinned paint and the finest brush, in a smaller size and of lower contrast than the real thing. Only after that model the volume — a dark glaze into the folds, fine lightening of the raised areas. Paint the skin, the leather and the metal separately and set them apart by degree of gloss as well. Finally bring the whole set together with a matte clear coat.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The vehicle, paints, glue and a base are not included in the package.
