A decal set in 1:35 scale from Star Decals for marking the tanks T-55, T-55M, T-55A and T-55AM from the Abkhaz-Georgian conflict of 1992 and 1993. The set is an accessory to a model, not a kit.
The armed conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia ran through 1992 and 1993 and both sides in it used hardware that had stayed in the region after the break-up of the Soviet Union. The most widespread tank was the T-55 in several development stages. The basic T-55 came out of the 1950s, the T-55A version received added crew protection and the designations T-55M and T-55AM belong to the upgrades of the 1980s with revised armor protection and improved equipment. The markings of the vehicles in this conflict tended to be improvised, that is hand-painted numbers, signs and lettering, often with no uniform system.
Because these are four closely related versions of one tank, first check which of them your model matches, and only then choose the arrangement of the markings. The cast turrets of the T-55 family have a grainy surface on which a decal will not seat without a setting solution. Improvised markings also look convincing when they are not perfectly straight; slight asymmetry is rather an advantage here. Once it has dried, flatten the surface down and add dust and traces of use.
The set holds only decals. The model and the paints are not included in the package.
