This set from DEF Model brings finely cast replacement tires and rims in 1:35 scale meant for the German VW off-road car of the Second World War in the desert version. It is the variant designated as set 2, which widens the range of wheels for this type of vehicle. The hub mounting follows the Tamiya kit.
The wheels are made of quality modeling resin and faithfully imitate the characteristic tread of desert balloon tires. The main merit is the weighted wheel effect, where the lower part of the tire is slightly flattened and sagged as if the weight of the vehicle were bearing down on it. The model then looks realistic, as if it really were standing on the ground.
The resin castings stand out with sharp definition of the tread and the sidewalls and are a marked improvement over the parts from an ordinary kit. Before gluing, it is best to wash the parts and remove the casting gates.
