A Voyager Model photo-etched detail set 1:35 for the King Tiger heavy tank with the early turret known as the Porsche turret. The set is cut for the Dragon and Zvezda kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched brass parts in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Voyager Model for a plastic model of the German heavy tank Tiger II, in the form with the early turret, which has become established in modeling under the name Porsche. The set is cut for the Dragon and Zvezda kits. It is an accessory to a model, not a stand-alone kit.
The Tiger II was the heaviest German series-built tank of the Second World War, with a long-barreled gun and steeply sloped frontal armor. The first turrets delivered had a rounded front wall and a protruding commander's cupola, while the later form received a flat front that was simpler to produce. The difference between the two turrets is conspicuous on a model and determines which detail parts are correct for a given machine.
On the Tiger II the most rewarding photo-etched parts are the fenders, the side plates and the mesh above the engine, because on the large surface of the hull the thickness of the plastic is visible at first glance. Fenders in photo-etched metal will stand realistic denting, which is hard to do in plastic. Cut the parts out, sand the burrs down and degrease before gluing. Lead the bends in a bending tool along the whole length at once. If you are planning Zimmerit, think the order of work through: it is applied to the hull and the turret before most of the photo-etched parts are fitted, otherwise the texture gets damaged. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and the brass is primed before painting.
It is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
