1:35 German Maschinengewehr machine gun (Spandau) is a resin accessory in 1:35 scale from the maker CMK. It is not a kit of a vehicle but a stand-alone weapon for completing a model or a scene.

This is a separately cast weapon that is used as an accessory for a model of equipment, for a figure or for a diorama. Machine guns are among the parts where the difference between injected plastic and resin is best seen: the thin walls of the cooling jacket, the pressings and the mechanism are cast more sharply in resin and without a parting seam along the whole length. The designation Spandau refers to the Berlin arms works after which German machine guns of this type were commonly named. The particular contents of the package are stated on the box.
Before building, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and free them of residues of the mold release agent. On thin parts such as the barrel or the bipod, cut the casting block off with a sharp knife or a fine saw and never snap it, as resin is brittle in a thin section. Go over the parting line with the blade and burnish it rather than sanding it away, so that the surrounding detail does not disappear. Sanding has to be done with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. With small parts it works well to hold them with tweezers and dose the glue with a pin.
The weapon is best painted separately, before being seated into the model. After a thin primer lay down a dark base, which in 1:35 scale looks more convincing than pure black. A metallic look is given by a gentle rub of graphite or dark metallic along the edges where the surface gets worn, not over the whole area. Set wooden parts apart with a warm brown tone and a fine wash along the grain. Even the whole out with matte clear coat and leave a slight gloss only on the metal edges.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted and it is not a model of a vehicle. Glue, paints and a kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
