A turned replacement barrel for the 75 mm gun of a model of the German Panzer IV Ausf. F2 tank in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Panzer IV Ausf. F2 is a variant of the German medium tank from 1942 in which the short assault barrel was replaced by a long 75 mm gun with substantially higher muzzle velocity. It was a direct response to the Soviet tanks against which the previous armament was not enough, and the long barrel became from then on the most conspicuous recognition feature of the whole line.
A turned replacement barrel for a model in 1:35 scale. Whether the package holds further parts as well and which kit the barrel is cut for should be checked against the manufacturer's data.
Cut the original barrel off as close to the mantlet as possible and sand the area flat. Widen the opening in the mantlet with a micro drill as needed, so that the replacement part seats without pressure. Fit it dry and check that the barrel points straight and does not droop - only then fix it with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for polystyrene has no effect here. Before painting, wash and degrease the part and apply a thin layer of primer, otherwise the top shade takes hold poorly on the smooth surface.
For modelers who are bothered by the lengthwise seam and the irregular shape of the barrel from a kit. The difference is visible above all at the muzzle and when looking along the barrel. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
