An add-on set of photo-etched parts from which the stowage bin mounted on the turret rear of the German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tank is assembled. According to the name the set is meant for the Ausf. E to J versions. It is not a kit of the tank and not a finished model: it is an accessory used on the kit given in the product name, which the modeler obtains separately.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV was the most widespread German medium tank of the Second World War and went through a series of versions during production that differed in armor, armament and external equipment. The bin on the turret rear served to stow the crew's personal equipment and spare materiel. It was a sheet-metal structure of thin material, so it is here that the difference between a plastic molding and photo-etched metal is most apparent.
The bin is made up of flat walls that are bent to a right angle, and here a photo-etch bender pays off. Without one, help yourself with a hard edge and two razor blades. Take the bend exactly on the marked groove and press the sheet gradually along the whole length, so that the edge does not stay rippled. Put the corners together dry as a trial first, and only then apply the cyanoacrylate, and in genuinely minute drops with a pin. We recommend gluing the assembled bin to the model only once the turret is finished and the place left by the original plastic part has been sanded flat. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray it with a thin primer.
