An extensive add-on set of photo-etched parts for the armor plates of the fighting superstructure of the German Sd.Kfz. 164 Nashorn self-propelled tank destroyer in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle and not a finished model: it is a detail accessory for the Dragon kit, which the modeler obtains separately.
The Nashorn was a German self-propelled tank destroyer of the Second World War, built on a chassis derived from the medium tanks. It carried an 88 mm anti-tank gun in an open superstructure, which protected the crew only from the sides and the front and was entirely open at the top. That is what matters for the modeler: the walls of the superstructure are visible over their whole height when seen from above, including the top edge, where the thickness of the material shows most.
With large flat parts the most important things are flatness and squareness. Check the plates on a glass plate and flatten any ripple by running a roller over them, never by bending over an edge. Glue the walls one at a time and let each be fixed at a right angle; a right-angle jig or modeling magnets help. For large surfaces, cyanoacrylate with a longer setting time is suitable, because a fast glue gives no time to correct the position. Before painting, degrease the metal with alcohol and use a thin primer, otherwise paint holds very poorly on smooth brass. Finish the inside of the superstructure before you close the walls up, including the base coat, because afterwards you will not reach the corners.
