E.T. Model 1:35 WWII German VsKfz 617 is a photo-etched detail set for the plastic kit of the German experimental VsKfz 617 mine-clearing vehicle. It is not a model of the vehicle, but a metal accessory for the build.

A detail set of photo-etched parts in 1:35 scale for the plastic kit of the German experimental VsKfz 617 mine-clearing vehicle. The metal parts replace the thin plates, the covers, the grilles, the hinges and the small fittings, where the coarseness of plastic shows most. On a machine as unusual as this, with its large exposed wheels and intricate superstructure, every part that can be made in a real thickness helps. The set is not a kit in its own right and the base model is obtained separately.
The VsKfz 617 was a German experimental vehicle intended for clearing roads of mines, that is for setting mines off with its own weight ahead of advancing units. Its three enormous steel wheels with replaceable shoes around the rim are characteristic, two at the front and one at the rear, with a heavily armored superstructure and a small turret for the crew set between them. The concept did not prove itself in practice, the machine was slow and hard to control, and it got no further than experimental vehicles. One surviving example was taken away after the war to a Soviet museum, where it can still be seen, and it is thanks to that example that the vehicle is known among modelers.
The vehicle has few large surfaces and a lot of technical detail, so glue the photo-etched parts on only once the main sub-assemblies are finished. Separate the parts with photo-etch scissors and make the folds in a bender. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a piece of wire. Degrease the metal and spray it with a primer. The steel shoes of the wheels are worth taking down to a dark metal shade and bringing out with graphite rubbed on or with a metallic pigment, because those are exactly the parts that would have shone in use.
The package holds photo-etched parts, not a kit of the vehicle. The base model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery.
