1:35 WWII US Tank crew Sahara 1943 w/base: resin figures of an American tank crew from the North African campaign of 1943 from DEF Model, in the version that includes a base for a vignette.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin figure set in 1:35 scale from the South Korean manufacturer DEF Model represents American tankers from the North African theater in 1943. This version additionally holds a base, so a stand-alone vignette can be built from it even without a model of a tank. The manufacturer also offers the same crew in a version without a base.
American armored units went through a hard schooling in the North African campaign in 1942 and 1943, from the landings under Operation Torch to the fighting in Tunisia. In desert conditions the tankers wore a practical combination of coveralls, jackets and the characteristic tank helmets; the ever-present dust and the heat of the desert left their mark on both equipment and vehicles. It is exactly that atmosphere the figures capture.
Wash the resin parts in warm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off and sand them with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and prime before painting. Tune the uniforms toward faded khaki and olive tones, and dust pigments will tie the figures in with a desert scene; treat the base as sandy terrain.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
