A photo-etched Zimmerit set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:35 scale, meant for detailing a model of the German King Tiger heavy tank, that is the Tiger II. The formed photo-etched parts faithfully imitate Zimmerit, the paste-like anti-magnetic coating with which German vehicles were protected against magnetic mines in the Second World War. It is not a model of the tank but an accessory that replaces the laborious shaping of Zimmerit by hand.
The King Tiger, in German the Königstiger and in its designation the Tiger II, was a German heavy tank from the end of the Second World War. It excelled in heavy frontal armor and a long 88 mm gun, which destroyed Allied tanks at great range. A massive and feared machine, it was demanding to operate and prone to breakdowns because of its high weight, yet it is among the icons of German armored equipment.
