A wooden (veneer) deck from the Artwox brand in 1:350 scale, intended for a model of the British battlecruiser HMS Repulse. It is not a ship model but a self-adhesive overlay of fine wood veneer with laser-cut planks and inlays, which replaces the flat plastic deck. The result is a realistic wood texture that is hard to reach on plastic. The veneer is cut to fit the Trumpeter 05312 kit.
HMS Repulse was a British battlecruiser of the First World War, modernized later on. It stood out for its high speed and its heavy gun armament. In the Second World War it was deployed in the Pacific, where it was sunk by Japanese air units in December 1941. Its extensive wooden decks are characteristic of its look.
Clean and degrease the plastic deck, lay the veneer on carefully and press it down; line up the openings for the superstructure and the turrets. The wood can be fine-tuned with a thin oil glaze or the plank lines can be emphasized. Light fixing with a matte varnish is recommended.
The accessory is supplied as a deck overlay. The ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
