This add-on set from Fujimi holds ten pieces — boats and the related fittings for models of Japanese warships in 1:350 scale. Boats are among the most visible details of the deck, and a separate set lets you replace the simplified parts from the base kit or add boats where they are missing. This is not a standalone model but an add-on to a ship kit.
Japanese warships carried a whole range of boats — motor launches for carrying officers and keeping contact with the shore as well as pulling cutters for moving the crew. The boats were stowed on the decks and lowered by booms or cranes; large ships often carried more than ten of them.
Paint the boats separately before fitting them to the model — a gray hull combined with wooden benches and planking is typical, and these come out well with fine brushwork and a brown shade. A thin wash will pick out the internal ribs and the detail.
This is an add-on set — the ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
