A wooden deck in 1:350 scale for a model of a cruiser of the Chinese Peiyang Fleet, cut for the Bronco kit number NB5018.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Peiyang Fleet was the main naval force of imperial China at the end of the nineteenth century, and its core consisted of cruisers built in European shipyards. The model the deck is cut for is the Bronco kit under the kit number NB5018, and the name of the ship is given in the designation as Chin Yuen. There is more than one transcription of Chinese names into the Latin alphabet, so when looking for reference go mainly by the kit number.
This is a deck piece in wood, cut for 1:350 scale and for the stated kit. It is laid on the plastic deck, which it covers, and replaces the engraved drawing of planks with the real grain of wood; no painting or shading will imitate that, because the grain is in the material and not on the surface. In small scales this is one of the most effective changes to the look of a model there is, because the deck makes up a large part of what the viewer sees from above.
First clear the plastic deck of flash and raised marks and degrease the surface, so that the piece does not lift anywhere. Check in the instructions from the manufacturer whether the deck has an adhesive layer of its own or is glued separately. Lay it on dry, go over the outlines around the turrets and the superstructure, and only then settle it permanently; moving it back afterward is practically impossible. The surface is usually left in the natural shade.
A deck piece is supplied. The ship kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
