A metal detail set for a model of the Russian battleship in 1:350 scale. It is not a kit. According to the name of the product the package contains four barrels of 305 mm caliber, twelve of 152 mm, eighteen of 75 mm, fourteen of 45 mm and ten of 37 mm. The set therefore matches the state of the ship in 1904; the manufacturer also makes a separate variant for the later state, which has a different mix of light calibers, so watch which year you are building.
On a pre-dreadnought with a rich anti-torpedo-boat battery the number of barrels is enormous and their diameter falls to a few tenths of a millimeter. A bore is practically impossible to drill into such a plastic peg, and yet it is exactly the open muzzle that separates a detailed model from a toy. A turned part solves that from the factory. What is more, all the barrels of one caliber are identical, which with hand-drilled plastic is never the case.
The set is a large one and the calibers differ only slightly: sort the parts into labeled dishes or a paper organizer as soon as you open it and never work over a carpet. Work with fine-tipped tweezers and seat the barrels in pre-drilled holes, not butt to butt. Dose a drop of gel grade cyanoacrylate with a piece of wire. Degrease the metal with alcohol, apply a primer for metal and paint thinly. On ships of this era the muzzles come out better with dark oxidation; a wash in the recesses of the turrets and casemates then visually settles the barrels into the structure.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a standalone kit. The ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
