A turned metal set of masts and yards for the Russian cruiser Varyag (1899) in 1:350 scale from MASTER. An accurate replacement for the plastic parts of a base kit, not a standalone ship model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal detail set of masts and yards for building a model of the Russian protected cruiser Varyag in 1:350 scale. The manufacturer MASTER specializes in accurate turned metal parts; thin, straight metal masts will replace the soft and often warped plastic parts from the box and give the build the right proportions as well as the strength needed for rigging.
Varyag was a Russian protected cruiser built at the end of the 19th century. She made her name at the Battle of Chemulpo in 1904 at the beginning of the Russo-Japanese war, where after an unequal fight she was scuttled by her own crew. She is among the best-known ships of the Imperial Russian Navy.
Separate the metal masts and yards carefully from the gate, sand the ends and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Metal holds the tension of the rigging lines better than plastic and will keep both the main and the foremast from bending. Before painting, apply a base coat (primer) to the metal, or the paint will hold poorly.
The set serves as a turned replacement for parts of a base kit; on its own it is not a ship model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
