An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian nuclear missile submarine of Project 955 Borei, specifically the vessel Yuri Dolgoruky, in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Hobby Boss. The model offers a split full hull with finely engraved detail, a separate rudder and stern surfaces, a multi-part pumpjet propulsor and photo-etched parts (for instance the propeller blades and the antennas). A stand with a nameplate and decals are included as well.
Borei (Project 955) is a modern class of Russian nuclear submarines armed with ballistic missiles, meant to replace older classes. Yuri Dolgoruky is the first vessel of the class; she carries ballistic missiles of intercontinental range and forms the backbone of the naval arm of the Russian strategic forces. The submarine has pumpjet propulsion, which makes her quieter than older designs.
The submarine can be finished as a full-hull model on a stand or as a waterline. Dry-fit the hull halves and sand the joint over so that the seam disappears. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the hull in dark shades, set the deck apart and tie the surface together with a fine wash; finish the small and photo-etched parts last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
