A set of small equipment for the shore part of a scene in 1:350 scale. It is not a kit of a ship or a free-standing model of a building; these are elements that are placed around a seafront so that the surroundings of a waterline model look inhabited and carry a guide to scale. And 1:350 is the most widespread size for modern ship models, so the set builds on an ordinary display collection.
The most effective arrangement is along the edge of the quay and around the access roads, that is, where real traffic would take place. Leave irregular gaps between the individual elements – a row lined up as if by a ruler gives away that this is a model. A piece of open area does the scene more good than an attempt to fill every centimeter, because the eye needs somewhere to rest.
Small parts are best sprayed all together, before they are distributed around the scene. Stick them to a strip of card with double-sided tape, spray on the primer and the base shade, and only then work up the details with a brush. A running dark glaze will give the depth back at the end, but apply it sparingly: at this scale an overdone shadow reads as dirt. A matte varnish ties the whole together and protects the thin edges.
The ship and the base itself are obtained by the modeler to suit their own project.
