A sheet of pre-cut Artwox Model painting masks for a model of the battlecruiser SMS Seydlitz in 1:350 scale. It is not a kit but a painting aid. Cut for the Hobby Boss 86510 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is an accessory, not a model. It holds self-adhesive masks cut to the shapes of one particular kit, which separate areas of different shade during spraying. The extent of the masked areas is given in the instructions supplied. The set is cut for the Hobby Boss 86510 kit, so check before buying that this is the one you have.
Most models are spoiled not when the mask goes on but when it comes off. Lift the mask with tweezers by a corner and draw it back over itself at a sharp angle, not straight up from the surface. A straight pull lifts the paint at the edge. If a mask holds more than it should, warm the area with a hairdryer on its lowest setting from a greater distance; the adhesive softens and the mask gives. Timing matters just as much: the best moment is shortly after the last coat has dried, when the paint is dry to the touch but not yet fully cured. After several days the paint sets over the edge of the mask and breaks off in flakes when it is removed.
Never put small masks down on the bench sticky side down; they pick up dust and stop holding. Work over a mat in a different color from the masks, so that you can see what has fallen. The base has to be smooth; on rough matte varnish masks seal worse and paint creeps under. Once they are off, inspect the edges and put any faults right with a brush rather than another spray coat.
The package contains masks only. The kit and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
