Responsibility details are not available.
The U.S.S. Grissom with the hull designation NCC-638 is a small science vessel viewers know from the 1984 film Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. It is her crew that surveys the planet Genesis, and the fate of the ship is among the strongest moments of the whole picture. Structurally she is an Oberth-class vessel, told from the large starships at a glance: a flat saucer hull on top and, beneath it on slender pylons, a lower section with the nacelles. That makes the Grissom easy to recognize among Star Trek models, and she does not get lost in a display case even beside larger ships.
The model is to 1:350 scale. The list of parts, the number of marking options and the extent of the instructions are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The broad smooth areas of the saucer hull forgive nothing, so fill the seams carefully, sand them down with progressively finer paper and wash and degrease the surface before painting. A light coat on the hull looks better when the individual areas are shaded very slightly and not brought out too hard. Glue the pylons of the lower section home and let them cure undisturbed, so that the model stands straight.
For collectors of Starfleet vessels and for modelers looking for a smaller but unmistakable subject. It also serves well as an addition to larger ships in a collection, because it shows another, more civilian face of Starfleet. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
