1:350 USN NC-2A from Black Dog treats the mobile power unit used to service aircraft on deck, in the 1:350 ship scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set treats the NC-2A service unit, that is, the mobile electrical power source of the US Navy. At 1:350 scale it is an inconspicuous little thing that nonetheless transforms the character of a whole deck: an empty area becomes a place of work at a stroke. The item comes from the Black Dog brand and is meant to be combined with larger ship models.
A parked aircraft needs power to check its instruments, for preflight tests of its systems and to start the engine turning. That is exactly what ground power carts were for; the ground crew brought them up to the aircraft and connected them with a cable. The onboard batteries thus stayed untouched and the routine preparation of the machine did not burden its own power sources. Equipment like this was part of the ordinary fit-out of flight decks and of land bases alike.
Work calmly and with good light. Take the parts off with a thin blade, level the surfaces with an abrasive sponge and degrease them before spraying. A thin coat of primer suits it, and then the base shade in two or three mists. Contrast comes from a local wash into the corners and a discreet lightening of the edges. Seat the unit where it makes sense, that is, near the parked machines.
The unit arrives unassembled and unpainted. Reckon on the paints and the glue as part of your own workshop stock.
