1:72 Russia - Billboards from ETA diorama

An accessory for a diorama, no kit. It brings Russian large-format signs in 1:72 scale, that is at a size where a whole street fits into a small area and where an advertising board serves as one of the few carriers of color and information.

What signs mean in a small scale

In 1:72 scale small details disappear, because the eye cannot make them out from the usual distance. The readability of a scene is therefore decided by large areas, and a billboard is exactly such an item: it catches the attention, establishes the setting and at the same time explains that this is an inhabited city and not mere scenery. A Russian city setting also works with large-format advertising very strongly, so this item suits it thematically as well.

Building recommendation

A sign needs a supporting structure, which you should prepare in advance, because in a small scale the post is thin and bends easily. Place the board so that the nearest building does not hide it, but so that it does not stand alone in the middle of an open area either. Keep the colors somewhat more subdued than reality would call for; in a small scale a rich tone looks unnatural very quickly. Leave a little clear space beneath the board, so that it is apparent it stands above the street.

Who it suits

• Builders of city scenes in 1:72 scale
• Modelers who need a color item for a small scene
• Those interested in the present-day Russian city setting
• Creators of scenes in which it should be apparent that a city is alive

Houses, poles and the street around them are not part of this item.
