1:35 Russia - Billboards, Russian signs for a 1:35 diorama

The accessory from the ETA diorama brand offers advertising signs with Russian motifs for scenes in 1:35 size. In a scene it plays the part of scenery: it is set up by a road, at the edge of a housing estate or above an intersection, and without a single other item it establishes where the action takes place. The scale is given in the name of the item.

What a sign can do in a scene

A large advertising surface is one of the few items that works from a distance too, because a viewer sees it before the details on a vehicle. At the same time it solves a practical problem: it can hide an unattractive display case background, close a scene off at the edge of the base and give a composition a vertical mass against low terrain. It comes out best by an access road, at a gas station, on the edge of a city and above a busy intersection.

Building and fitting

A sign needs a supporting structure of its own and stable anchoring into the base; with tall pieces count on the center of gravity being high up. Tilting the surface a few degrees toward the viewer looks natural and improves readability. Do not leave the back bare; even a lightly suggested frame and braces will save it. A damaged edge, a lifted corner or a faded strip on the sunny side will give the impression of a surface that has stood outdoors for several seasons.

Who the prop suits

• Builders of present-day city scenes in 1:35 size
• Modelers who need a vertical item to close a composition
• Those interested in hiding a display case background with the means of the scene itself
• Those building a road, housing estate or suburban setting

This item is a scenic prop. The supporting structure of the sign, the base and the means to finish it are obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.
