A plastic kit of the MiG-17F jet fighter and its Chinese licensed version, the Shenyang J-5, in 1:48 scale from AMMO of Mig Jimenez. According to the name it is the Premium Edition, focused on machines operated in Vietnam, China and North Korea.
The MiG-17 was created as a rework of the older MiG-15 with a new swept wing and better behavior at high speeds. The MiG-17F version received an engine with an afterburner, which let the machine accelerate faster and climb better. In China the type was built under license as the Shenyang J-5 and went from there to further users. Over Vietnam it turned out that a subsonic aircraft with cannon armament and a small turning radius could trouble even considerably more modern and faster opponents in close combat.
