A replacement barrel for the American .50 caliber Browning M2 HB heavy machine gun, that is, 12.7 mm, in the early version for models in 1:35 scale. The Polish manufacturer Aber is among the best in the field of fine detail parts, and its barrels give the weapons on a model exact geometry, a crisply drawn perforated cooling jacket and a clean muzzle; these are precisely the areas that tend to be weakest on parts from an ordinary kit.
The Browning M2 came about at the close of the 1920s and, with partial modifications, serves to this day, so it belongs among the longest-used weapons of its category in the world. During the Second World War it formed the standard armament of American equipment: you will find it on the turrets of Sherman tanks, on half-tracks, on Willys jeeps and on the decks of ships. The early form of the barrel differs from the later ones in details of execution, so this part suits machines from the first half of the conflict above all.
Cut the original barrel off at the body of the weapon, level the contact surface and settle the new part with cyanoacrylate. Degrease the accessory before painting and give it a thin coat of primer underneath, so that the shades that follow hold reliably. It also pays to compare the fit of the part with the mount of the particular model beforehand, so that the weapon sits at a natural angle.
