This plastic kit of the Ford V-8 model 51 truck comes from a new mold of 2024. The Ukrainian manufacturer ACE also included photo-etched parts for finer detail and decals for period vehicles in the box, so the character of the subject can be captured very faithfully even in a small scale.
The Ford V-8 model 51 truck was assembled at the German branch of the car company in Cologne in the second half of the 1930s. It was powered by a V8 of 3.6 liters, an engine that was flexible and reliable for its day. The vehicles first ran in civilian service, but with the outbreak of the Second World War the Wehrmacht requisitioned civilian equipment wholesale and the Fords appeared with supply columns on most of the early battlefields. It was precisely the ubiquitous trucks that kept the German army moving far more reliably than the more famous tracked equipment.
This is a kit from a shorter run: separate the parts with a razor saw, sand the edges and try the cab together dry. Bend the photo-etched parts with tweezers with smooth jaws and attach them with cyanoacrylate. German dark gray suits it in color, the wood on the bed comes out well painted with a brush and brightened with a dry brush; the chassis asks for mud from pigments.
In the box you will find only an unassembled and unpainted model; the manufacturer encloses neither glue nor paints.
