A metal replacement for the gun barrel of a model of the German Leopard 2 A7V main battle tank in 1:35 scale, from the accessories of the Tamiya brand. The one-piece metal version removes the most tiresome part of building a split plastic barrel, cleaning up the lengthwise seam, and the perfectly straight profile of a dominant part lifts the overall impression of the model.
The Leopard 2 A7V is the current production form of the German main battle tank, which the Bundeswehr has been introducing since the early 2020s. The vehicle combines strengthened protection, upgraded observation and sighting systems and a 120 mm smoothbore gun; the long slender barrel with its thermal sleeve and the muzzle reference mirror is one of the most distinctive features of the whole tank's silhouette.
Glue the barrel with cyanoacrylate and degrease the metal surface before painting and give it a suitable primer, otherwise the paint will adhere poorly. A drop of filler will unify the transition between the metal part and the plastic mantlet; once the camouflage is sprayed, the detail will stand out with a light wash and dust weathering on the lower parts of the vehicle.
