The masking set for the cruiser SMS Dresden is a collection of cut templates for a model in 1:700 scale, cut to suit the kit from the same maker.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cut masking templates for a model of the German light cruiser SMS Dresden in 1:700 scale. It is an accessory to the build, not a kit. The templates separate the color areas on the hull and on the superstructures, so that tape does not have to be measured out and stuck down piece by piece. The cut matches the Dresden kit from the same maker.
The Dresden was a light cruiser of the Imperial German Navy and gave its name to the whole class, to which the better known Emden also belonged. At the beginning of the First World War it operated in South America and was the last vessel to escape from the Battle of the Falkland Islands. It held out at sea for several months, until British ships caught up with it off the island of Más a Tierra, where it met its end.
In 1:700 scale, have a magnifier and tweezers with smooth jaws ready. The surface must be degreased and the paint underneath completely dry. Press the mask down around its whole perimeter with a blunt tip, so that the paint does not seep under it. Spray thin coats and take the mask off shortly after it has dried, pulling it at an angle across the surface. Work from the bottom upward, that is, the underwater part of the hull first and then the rest.
The masks are supplied on their own; the paints and the model are not included in the package.
