The kit from the French manufacturer Heller captures a fast escort vessel of the E 52 type in 1:400 scale. The slender ship from the beginnings of the Cold War is an ideal subject for modelers tempted by modern warships outside the usual themes of the Second World War.
Fast escort vessels of the E 52 type were built by France in the 1950s as specialized antisubmarine ships for escorting convoys under NATO commitments. They followed on from the older E 50 type, with which they shared the overall conception, and they were distinguished by a long flush deck and rich antisubmarine equipment. They stayed in the service of the French Navy for a number of decades and went through modernizations step by step.
Glue the hull first and devote time to cleaning up the lengthwise seams; on the smooth sides of a warship every unevenness shows. Apply the gray shades in thin layers and set the deck apart with a darker tone. The look will be lifted further by added photo-etched railings and fine rigging from stretched wire.
The kit is delivered in an unassembled and unpainted state; you will find neither glue nor paints in the package, unless stated otherwise.
