Return roller bases in the second form, 1:35, come from ELEFANT for the late Pz.III and for the StuG III assault guns in the F and G versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item from the ELEFANT brand brings the second of the forms offered for the base on which a return roller rests. According to the name it is aimed at the late chassis, that is at the Pz.III in the M and N forms and the StuG III in the F and G forms; the name also gives a casting number and contents covering a pair of machines.
German chassis went through a number of small production changes during the war which today can be told apart on period photographs at exactly such places. Different suppliers cast the same part with a different shape and with different markings, which is why it makes sense to offer several forms of the same item. For a modeler it means being able to build a particular machine from a particular batch rather than just a generic representative of the type. Anyone who does not go into that level of detail simply picks whichever form they like better.
The set is fitted before the running gear is closed up, because afterward the hull side is hard to reach. Once the joint has cured, check that it is level and fill any gaps. When painting, leave the area around the rollers a little dirtier than the rest of the side: this is where mud was thrown off the track and dust settled. Apply the pigments with a dry brush from the top downward and wipe the excess away so that the layer does not look like a dusting of flour.
