A 77propeller 1:48 Luftwaffe workshop ladder is an accessory for maintenance scenes beside Luftwaffe aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory belongs to the equipment of field workshops and hangars. It is not a model of an aircraft but a piece of equipment without which a maintenance scene looks empty: a mechanic needs something to climb when working on an engine, a cockpit or the upper surface of a wing. The 1:48 scale matches the most widespread size of aircraft models, so the ladder fits most finished display cases.
The ground equipment of Luftwaffe airfields was largely improvised and simple. Alongside standardized trolleys and stands, ordinary workshop ladders were used and were carried from machine to machine wherever a repair happened to be under way. In period photographs they stand leaning against a fuselage, against an engine cowling and against the edge of a wing, and they are often the only thing in a picture that gives the real size of the aircraft.
First decide where the ladder will stand in the scene and glue it accordingly - a leaning part is glued differently from a free-standing one. Choose a muted base color and above all thin it well, or the edges of the rungs will disappear. A dark wash into the joints and light wear on the edges where hands and boots would rub the finish away do a great deal for the effect.
A model of an aircraft, figures and paints are not included in the package.
