A pair of Luftwaffe wooden ladders in 1:48 scale. A small thing that suggests the work of the ground crew beside an aircraft model and brings a diorama scene to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
During the war an aircraft was not always climbed by its footsteps. To reach the cockpit, the engine and the wing, the ground crew set ordinary wooden ladders against it, because they were light, could be repaired on the spot and stood at every field airfield. It is exactly this unassuming equipment that turns a model on a base into a scene: from the ladder the viewer sees at once that someone was working on the machine, and gains a scale against which to compare the size of the aircraft.
Two wooden ladders in 1:48 scale, that is in the same size as the most widespread aircraft kits. Two pieces let you set one ladder against the fuselage and leave the other lying at the edge of the area or leaning against a vehicle, which looks more natural than a single carefully placed piece.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest carefully so that the edges of the rungs stay sharp. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Wood is painted from the bottom up: a pale base, over it a thin grain drawn along the length in a darker color, and finally a dark wash into the joints and drybrushing along the edges. You can happily overdo the worn rungs and the knocks at the foot of the ladder; on a real one those are the first places to get scuffed.
For builders of aircraft dioramas and field airfield scenes in 1:48 scale. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
