A decal sheet for the Curtiss P-40C Tomahawk in 1:48 scale, the first part of a series devoted to American machines in Soviet service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40C was an early version of the American fighter that British nomenclature knew under the name Tomahawk. It was powered by the liquid-cooled Allison V12 engine and the machine was notable for its long pointed nose and low-set wing. A considerable part of these aircraft ended up with Soviet units, where they were fought in conditions they had not originally been built for.
This is the first part of a series devoted to American machines in Soviet service, worked out in 1:48 scale. It is precisely the markings that turn a model into a particular aircraft: Soviet stars, tactical numbers and lettering look unusual on an American airframe and the model immediately gains a theme from them. Which machines the sheet covers and which kit it is cut for are given in the enclosed instructions.
Varnish the base to a gloss, soak the element and slide it off the paper onto the model. Settle it with a brush, blot off the excess water and let it dry. A softener will help the film settle onto the panel lines. Finally go over the area with varnish, so that the edge of the film disappears.
For modelers interested in the wartime aid to the Soviet Union and in less usual combinations of machine and markings. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
