A plastic kit of the HMS Campbeltown (the raid on St Nazaire) in 1:400 scale from the Polish brand Mirage Hobby — a full-hull model of the British destroyer.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures the British destroyer HMS Campbeltown as she looked during the operation against the port of St Nazaire (1942), in 1:400 scale. The model from the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby comes as a set of injection-molded plastic parts to be glued and painted, together with a decal sheet. The version reflects the altered appearance of the ship for that action.
HMS Campbeltown was an older destroyer that the Royal Navy obtained from the US Navy (originally USS Buchanan). In March 1942 she was chosen for Operation Chariot, the raid on the docks in the port of St Nazaire. For that action the ship went through changes to her silhouette; she played the key part in putting the dry dock there out of action.
The hull is built as a whole; remove the flash from the joints and glue with a thin cement for plastic. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush; fine items can be picked out with extra photo-etched parts, which are not included in the package. You can bring the surface to life with a wash into the recesses and fine accenting of the edges. You display the finished model on a stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
