Injection-molded plastic kit of the German long-range submarine U-875 of Type IXD2 in 1:400 scale from Mirage Hobby. The box for this particular boat is rounded out by the small Fa 330 observation rotor kite and decals.
U-875 belonged to the long-range Type IXD2 boats, nicknamed the Monsun boats, which were intended for operations in distant waters as far as the Far East. These submarines carried the Fa 330 rotor kite tethered by a cable, which in towed flight served for observation over a great distance. Compared with the ordinary Atlantic boats, Type IXD2 had a markedly greater reach and was adapted for long independent voyages. U-875 was one of the last boats of this series to be built.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. The small parts of the Fa 330 kite call for patience; glue them with cyanoacrylate. Decide whether you are building the complete hull on the stand or a waterline model. Lay down a primer and airbrush the dark gray shades with the deck set apart. A thin dark wash will bring out the hatches and the seams.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
