1:72 C-40A Clipper/B from Big Planes Kits is an extensive kit of the military transport version of the next generation Boeing 737.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large kit of an airliner in 1:72 scale. In sheer size the finished model is among the most demanding things you can build for a display case, and the recommended level of experience matches that: the manufacturer rates it as advanced. The designation in the name combines the letters A and B, by which the individual versions of this machine are distinguished in American service.
The C-40 Clipper is derived from the next generation Boeing 737 and replaced older transport types in the American armed forces. It combines a shorter fuselage with strengthened landing gear and a wing fitted with winglets, so it carries both cargo and passengers and can get into shorter runways. It is used for logistics flights, for moving personnel and, in a special fit, for carrying senior officials. Thanks to its civil origin it is an aircraft whose clean lines show up every imperfection of the surface.
With airliners of this size the smooth fuselage decides the result: fill the seams between the halves and work through several grits up to a high polish. Before a light finish goes on, a unifying base coat helps, otherwise differences in the material show through. Set the decals on the curved surfaces onto an intermediate gloss clear coat and help them with a decal softener so that they settle into the transitions. Lift the model by the wing, not by the fuselage; at this size the weight is noticeable.
The model comes unassembled and without paint; the package does not contain glue or paints, unless stated otherwise.
