The masking set from Omask belongs to a model of the MiG-17F jet fighter in 1:72 scale. On this type the canopy has clearly readable frames and a thick armored windshield at the front, so precise covering shows at once on a finished model. You are buying the mask alone; the plastic parts and paints are not in the package.
The MiG-17 came about as a reworking of the proven MiG-15: it received a greater wing sweep, a longer fuselage and finer control at high speed. The F suffix marks the version with the engine fitted with an afterburner, which noticeably improved the climb and the acceleration of the aircraft. The type reached an exceptionally wide spread, served with dozens of operators around the world and was built under license too; in combat it gained a reputation as an agile opponent that could trouble considerably more modern machines.
Silvery and metallic-looking surfaces forgive the least, so smooth the model thoroughly before the final spray; every scratch stands out under a metallic shade. Metallic paints are also harder to overspray, so lay them on as late as possible and put masking over them with care. The canopy frames come out best when the interior shade gets into them first.
