A plastic kit of the Curtiss Hawk 75 fighter in its export versions, 1:144 scale, package marked 2 in 1. The name gives the 75A-7 and Mohawk IV variants.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss Hawk 75 is an American single-seat fighter of the second half of the 1930s with a radial engine in the nose. In its export versions it reached a whole range of users outside the United States: it fought over France, served in the Dutch East Indies and flew with the Royal Air Force under the name Mohawk. It lost out in speed to contemporary European fighters, but it stood out for its agility and easy handling.
The kit in 1:144 scale covers, according to the name, the export machines of European and overseas users, specifically the 75A-7 version and the British Mohawk IV, and it carries the 2 in 1 marking. How many complete models the package holds and which markings it offers is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
In 1:144 scale the result is decided by clean work: separate the parts with a sharp blade, sand the mating surfaces down to nothing and apply filler to the joints in a thin layer only, so that the fine surface detail is not clogged. The radial engine comes out best when a dark shade is laid deep inside the cowling and the edges of the cylinders are picked out with a dry brush. Mask the canopy glazing before spraying, not after the paint has dried.
The kit will please modelers who collect fighters of the early Second World War in a single small scale and are not put off by tiny parts. Paints, glue and filler are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
