A finished collector's model of the Skoda Favorit 136 L in 1:43 scale from the Czech maker Abrex, done in the Spoje company livery. The model is supplied complete and is meant for a collection or a display case. It fits into a range in which Abrex works up service versions of the Favorit alongside the ordinary civilian shades.
The Favorit was a turning point for Skoda: a hatchback with front-wheel drive and a body to an Italian design, which replaced the layout of cars with the engine at the rear. The 136 L version carried a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1289 cc mounted transversely at the front. The car became an ordinary part of the streets of the late eighties and the nineties, and in the service colors of companies and organizations everyone came across it. It is exactly these utility versions that collectors look for most today, because far fewer of them survived than of civilian cars.
The model captures the real subject in the Spoje service finish, which places the car in a particular time and setting. In a display case it therefore works differently from a civilian version, it combines well with other service models of the same era and it is a rewarding addition to collections aimed at Czechoslovak transport and public services.
