Set of pre-cut kabuki masks in the basic BASIC scope for the kit of the Sikorsky H-19A Chickasaw helicopter in 1:48 scale from the AMP company, part number 48022.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sikorsky H-19A Chickasaw is the army version of a transport helicopter from the early 1950s, which served for carrying loads as well as for rescue flights. For a modeler the typical features are the high-set pilot's cabin above the bulky nose and the long tail boom, which tapers toward the rear. The set is cut for the kit from the AMP company with part number 48022 in 1:48 scale, so the shapes of the masks match its parts exactly.
This is a masking set in the basic scope, which the manufacturer labels BASIC. There is also a wider EXPERT variant in the range; what each of them covers exactly is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The masks are cut from kabuki tape, that is from a fine paper material with an adhesive treatment that can be pressed even onto a slightly convex surface and leaves no adhesive residue behind when removed.
Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers, so that paint does not run underneath. Lay the paint on in thin coats; a heavy coat runs under the edge more readily than several light ones. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and do it at an angle to the surface rather than straight up from it.
The set suits anyone who wants to save themselves the drawn-out job of cutting tape by eye and wants crisp transitions between colors. The kit, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
