1:32 Vietnam Pilots Standing/Climbing SET1 is a set of airmen in standing poses and climbing to the cockpit, intended for aircraft models in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the Rise144models brand depicts American airmen from the time of the Vietnam War in poses that take place outside the cockpit: a figure standing on the apron and a figure climbing the steps to the seat. It is exactly such poses that most aircraft kits lack, because they usually offer at most a seated pilot. At 1:32 the figure is large enough for the straps, the helmet and the folds of the flight suit to come out.
The US Air Force and US naval aviation used kit in Southeast Asia that differs a great deal from today's: a hard helmet with a visor, an oxygen mask, a life vest and trousers with pockets. A scene with an airman by the machine therefore conveys at once the period the scene takes place in, and that even without further accessories on the base.
Before you glue the figures on, stand them dry beside the finished aircraft and check their height against the wing and the steps. The climbing pose calls for firm contact with the ladder or the fuselage, so it works well to seat the hand first and only then the feet. The painting goes better if you finish the figure separately from the aircraft and join them last.
The set is supplied with no color treatment.
